AP® US History
 

During this AP U.S. History @ Hawaii APSI, you’ll explore the course framework, the exam, and the new AP resources that will help you plan and focus instruction. These new resources give you feedback throughout the year on the areas where individual students need additional focus.

You’ll also learn about completing the digital activation process at the start of the school year that will give you immediate access to the new resources and will help ensure that your students can register for AP Exams by the new fall deadlines.

By attending this APSI, you’ll gain deeper insight into the following key takeaways, among several others: Understand the Course; Plan the Course; Teach the Course; Assess Student Progress; and Engage as a Member of the AP Community. In addition, specific attention will be paid to the following AP Classroom resources: unit guides, personal progress checks, AP teacher community, and the AP question bank.

DR. ERIC HAHN

Aloha From Dr. Eric Hahn!

Welcome to the Second Annual Hawai‘i Advanced Placement® Summer Institute (APSI).

Eric Hahn has been teaching since 1986, and he has been teaching or consulting with the Advanced Placement program since 1993.  He has taught both Advanced Placement United States History and Advanced Placement World History and has been an essay reader for the College Board program since 1994. After retiring from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 2017, Dr. Hahn found a home teaching part time at John Burroughs School, with the exception of two years in which he taught at Clayton High School during the Covid years. 

Eric earned his PhD from St. Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction in 1999.  He has been a consultant for the College Board since 1998, received recognition as a Peabody Leaders in Education Award, education/lesson writer for the Ken Burns series The War, World Affairs Council Teacher of the Year, the Benjamin Hooks Excellence in Education Award, and Outstanding Educator from the University of Chicago.  Eric enjoys family, reading, traveling and the crazy hobby of beekeeping.

Eric embraces the Aloha Spirit - compassion and kindness to all with whom we cross paths in our everyday lives.
